How Gratitude Influences the Law of Attraction and Manifestation

By expressing and showing gratitude sincerely you're giving yourself a peace of mind and putting in motion vibrations that will activate your connections with the universe, and turn your wishes to manifestations.

Showing gratitude and thanking the universe for what you have already acquired is a first and major step of the law of attraction and manifestation. The second step is to show gratitude for what you want despite the fact that you have not acquired it. This type of gratitude sends a huge vibration out to the the universe and it acts in a magical way to influence the universe to quickly manifest your wants. This is why each child is taught to say thanks for any gift he or she receives.

Your gratitude is like a cord and through the cord a channel is created with the universe to send and receive vibrations. This will help to materialise and quicken the process of your manifestation. Through the cord you will receive divine messages in different forms - intuitions, meeting the right people, positive thinking etc.

The more intense you express gratitude the more feelings you generate that you already have what you want. If you take some moments to imagine that you already have that thing, you will enjoy the happiness and thereby create the good feelings that will assist you in manifesting fast.

One of the reasons why people fail to manifest with law of attraction and manifestation is that they do not show enough genuine gratitude for what they already have, and what they want but which they have not got yet. It is very important to feel an intense gratitude when you imagine that you have already acquired that thing you want. Actually gratitude hastens your manifestations.

How to Practice Gratitude to Be Happier

The practice of gratitude can make us happier. According to University of California Psychology Professor Dr.Robert Emmons, gratitude can increase happiness by 25%. He says in his book, which outlines strategies for cultivating gratitude, Thanks! How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier that, "Gratitude is literally one of the few things that can measurably change people's lives." In his research, he has discovered that the practice of gratitude helps us to cope better with stress, gives us greater health, and increases positive feelings such as hope, peace and happiness.

While the benefits are clear, many people still have a tough time, especially during hardships, to turn to gratefulness as a helpful tool in creating a more positive outlook. But the most important life-altering thing that gratitude can provide is to place us in the moment. When we are in the moment, time seems to stop, and life, in general, becomes richer. So put yourself in the moment by soaking in all the goodness that exists around you. Truly enjoy the many blessings that you have been given. You will see that the aroma of a hot cup of coffee will be a little stronger, the fresh outdoor air will be appreciated more, and the negative comment made about your career will sting a little less. The practice of gratitude helps us to see things from a new perspective and, in turn, life becomes more of what it is, a beautiful gift meant to be savored, and joyfully and purposefully lived.

Here are some ways to practice gratitude:

Make a list of top 100 things to be grateful for - Although this may be tough to do, start to think about what you may be taking for granted, which will make the list become long.

Keep a gratitude journal
Write in a journal daily or at least regularly to record all that you are grateful for. According to Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of Simple AbundanceJournal of Gratitude, by giving thanks for five gifts every day she says, in two months, you may not look at your life in the same way as you might now. She also says, "Gratitude is the most passionate transformative force in the cosmos."

Enjoy life's simple pleasures
Relish in all the simple pleasures such as food, the beauty of nature, music, and great conversation. So much abundance exists around us and we will attract even more by noticing it.

Write a thank you note
Is there someone who you can write a note of thanks to, which, perhaps, can make their day? Some people who may be in need of some appreciation are waitresses, teachers, the postman, a friend or family member, or a coworker.

Stop complaining for 21 Days
Join over 6 million people in more than 80 countries who have participated in the Complaint Free challenge developed by Pastor Will Bowen of Christ Church Unity in Kansas City, MO. The challenge began when he asked his congregation to form a habit of gratitude by not complaining for 21 consecutive days, which scientists believe is the amount of days it takes to form a new habit. Then he passed out purple bracelets to each church member to remind them of their commitment to the plan. He said to them that if they slipped and complained during the 21 day period, then they were to move the bracelet to the other wrist. Try it!

Look at each day as a gift
If you haven't seen the video, "A Good Day," with Brother David Steindl-Rast, view it a www.gratefulness.org. This is a must see to truly understand that to be alive for another day is a gift, and as Brother David says, "the only appropriate response to this gift is gratefulness."

Uncover a hidden opportunity
Hidden opportunities exist in trying times. Take a good look at how a life challenge can have a positive outcome, or be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Be of service to the less fortunate
To be of service is the best way to give back for all the blessings you have been given. Extending ourselves to those who are less fortunate confirms our gratitude and, in turn, makes the world a better place.

Express thanks everyday
Tell someone how thankful you are to have them in your life. Whether it's your Mom, Dad, sibling, friend, people love to be appreciated for who they are and nothing else. This gratitude goes along way and can make a relationship that much sweeter.

Gratitude Excites Life!

Getting excited about life can sometimes seem elusive when we're dealing with many challenges and the associated stress. We always want to experience the best that life has to offer. At times, this preference may have us trying to avoid the challenges life throws our way. Regardless of my preference though, life seems to proceed and the challenge is survived. Along the way, as multiple challenging life situations are simply allowed to co-exist, I discovered an important quality that sustains and fuels my spirit. Not only does this quality help with the journey through difficulty, it also attracts positive experiences that can act as a counter-balance. This quality is gratitude.

Gratitude is more than just acknowledging thanks. It is more than intellectual exercise. It is much more than an obligation. Gratitude is a state of being that appreciates all that is good and welcomed in our life. Gratitude appreciates from the mind through intentional thought that recognizes the richness of our emotional connections with others, and all good things that bless our lives. Relationships are the most significant source for virtually all experiences of gratitude.

Relationship is at play in every interaction and opportunity with another living being. This is one significant reason why pets have been recognized as having a therapeutic and healing effect on patients. The positive experience and exchange of loving energy is present in that moment creating a brief encounter of gratitude, love, and joy. The worry and fear related to a loss of health is momentarily forgotten allowing the fullness of the positive experience to work its' magic. Taking hold of this perspective, if we acknowledge and allow this focus to become a guiding presence with every connection to another life, I wonder how much more gratitude would be experienced and how much more magic would be enjoyed? I have been enjoying this experience of gratitude and how it positively affects my outlook and each day. With this enjoyment also comes the fuel to go further, not just with gratitude, but also with every other area and dream for my life. A large part of this is the gratitude for the unknown.

The unknown represents the many surprises that show up every day. Too often, we're so busy with our daily agenda that we don't take the time to notice the unexpected and discover what surprise might be available for us in that moment. This is when the unknown can be thought of as the Unknown, the Mystery, the Universe, the Creator, etc. Whatever your belief system, there is an invisible element to the beauty and magic that has created all that we see and experience around us every year. Noticing the surprises that show up each day can enhance the experience of the unknown, strengthening the relationship with the Unknown, and increasing the experience of gratitude. With a focus and attention on gratitude each day, the experience of it in your body, in your being, heightens a sense of energy that could be thought of as aliveness. This energy, also a powerful and positive energy, attracts likeness. This is where it is important to know that gratitude is more than an intellectual exercise.

Experiencing, or feeling the energy of gratitude fully in the body is as important as the mental focus on those things you are grateful for. The mental process assists in the transformation to living a life of gratitude. The bodily experience will arrive with consistent mental focus, capturing the negative thoughts and replacing them with a positive thought, preferably combined within the context of gratitude. Consistent effort equates to practicing until this outlook and way of being becomes a habit - a positive habit that replaces one or many negative habits. As you can see, this is not an exercise of obligatory duty, offering kindness, thanks, etc., out of a sense of responsibility to others. This is an act for your own freedom and well-being.

If we are resentful we cannot experience gratitude. Trying to express gratitude out of duty to another is misplaced and misdirected. Gratitude isn't about what you are giving another. Gratitude is about you - being in gratitude - and what it gives you. This again requires that some attention and focus must be given to the negative thoughts that are preventing the beautiful and powerful experience of gratitude. Inquire within yourself to understand the root that blocks your progress. Acknowledge the weakness once it is identified and invite the weakness to observe while you dance with possibility through exercising gratitude. In time healing and transformation will occur. Be patient with the process and yourself.

Too often we want to see results today, let alone tomorrow. As with the nature of all things, seeds need time to take root and grow. Even here you can experience gratitude, knowing that the Unknown is also acting invisibly upon each seed that you plant. The best aspect of this possible reality is that it relinquishes your need to fret and worry about the results. This permits other qualities to arise within your being that also contributes to the fullest experience of gratitude: Faith and trust. Continue with the journey of gratitude and transformation knowing that you are going to see results without worrying what those results should look like. Don't look at where you're not, look at where you are and be joyous!

Gratitude Goes To Another Level

Frequently an article will be written when further insight and inspiration will visit with more detail, additional clarity, or distinctions that require our attention. This was one of those times.

Gratitude is something that can seem fickle to some as they try to find something to be grateful for in their lives. While writing about gratitude, I offered a variety of perspectives that fuel the need for gratitude and the benefits of gratitude. I spoke of appreciating and being thankful or grateful for the good things in your life. Today, while reflecting once again on gratitude, gratitude decided to take it to another level.

While it makes sense for us to experience gratitude for the things we have -- appreciating the people and many things that have blessed our lives -- I was struck by a stark truth that I actually have nothing. All these people and things simply exist, I cannot truly possess any of them. Therefore it is more relevant, powerful, potent, and important to express gratitude simply for what IS rather than what I have. It is this expression that expands the conscious connection and gratitude to the Source of All Creation that many refer to as the one true God.

You came into this world with nothing and you'll leave this world with nothing; at least not in the physical and tangible way. You will leave with your experiences, memories, and richness felt through life. Expressing gratitude acknowledges this journey, all the flavors and tastes along the way, the what is in every moment, and in each and every acknowledgement also comes the acknowledgement of God's presence at play. Again, I invite you to explore gratitude.

Grateful For The Past - An Event I Am Grateful For

I decided that I also wanted to be grateful for the wonderful things that I experienced in my past.  It beats thinking of all the negative things that seem to haunt most of us including me of what went wrong in the past = "baggage".

So I am also going to look for all the wonderful things that happened/I experienced in the past. That way the past will become something to be happy about and I can heal myself and not being resentful about what went wrong = liberating.

My mother suffered a massive stroke in April 2014.  The doctors did not think she would survive. They told us that we should gather all the family to pay our last respects.

Well my mother was not ready to die.  Through her determination to live, I chose to become her caregiver.  It's not an easy job, far from it.  It is filled with challenges for both her and I.

This photo was taken 6 months ago where she cooked her Italian sauce for the first time since her stroke.  At that time she had limited movement in her left arm and her energy reserves were very low. However she was determined to make it.

Isabella ❤

I am grateful that my mother was committed to recovering
from her debilitating stroke.

Gratitude - Is It a Set Up for Failure?

A great question to ponder.  Are you grateful for you?  If not, why not?

Isabella

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. John F. Kennedy

Article Source: Joleen Halloran

An attitude of gratitude has always been a precursor for living in a good moral standing. Those that are not grateful, we are told, will be miserable, will not go the heaven, or will not receive more. But this very notion that we must be grateful in order to "get" something else, is a set up for failure. Here is why.

To be truly grateful for something means that we value it, appreciate it, and have an authentic unconditional love of it. Gratitude, as a platitude, is actually the exact opposite of truthfully appreciating something or valuing it. Feigning gratitude in words or even with forced emotion is really another form of lying. If you are grateful, you live within it, you do not need to advertise it. Not that there is anything wrong with advertising it, but unfortunately many think a demonstration of gratitude is merely convincing ourselves and others how much we have it.

We have been told, "Be grateful for what you have or else you will not receive more." So, we started ticking off our items to be grateful for and making sure that everyone else knows it too. We are also told that we must be grateful for God. Those that are not grateful to God are in big trouble in the hereafter. We are also told that "not" being grateful is behavior of only the most vile, selfish people.

All of these conditioned beliefs set us up for guilt, shame, unworthiness, and despair. I'm such a miserable person, I don't even appreciate what I have, and so on. We shout and reverberate our gratitude for God because deep down, we fear that not being grateful means we will not have a chance for His grace or worse, that we might go to hell. But if we are not truly grateful for what we have, it's not because we are bad or evil, it's because we are asleep (metaphorically). Gratitude is an innate quality to the soul and individual spirit of man. We don't have to feign it, we are it. If we experience moments in our lives that point out our un-gratefulness, we should be shouting hallelujah, I have been shown the light.

Here is an example. Most people feel that they should be grateful for their jobs. Many people today have been heard to say, "I know times are tough, so I am so grateful for my job." Which is another way of saying, "I really hate my job but at least, thankfully, I am better off than a lot of other people right now." This is not gratitude, it's resignation and/or attempt to build up our own self-worth from the backs of other more unfortunate unemployed people. First of all, if you were truly grateful about your job, you probably would not feel a need to declare it. You would live it! Your job would be an extension of your gratitude for it. You would know this because your job makes you feel good, helps you to contribute, and provides not only monetary needs, but emotional and spiritual desires as well.

If you are complaining about "it", whatever or whoever "it" is - news flash, you are not grateful. If you cannot be happy within this moment, and you are constantly looking forward to the next day, or the next exciting event, or even wishing this moment would hurry up and be over, guess what, you are not grateful for what you have. When you wish for, pine for, fight for, anything, you are not grateful for what you have. If you see anything as missing from your life, then you are not grateful for it. Gratitude is unconditional acceptance of what IS. Seem harsh?

Some of you might say, "Hey, I wish for and I will fight for peace." Why? Is it missing in your life? If it wasn't, why would you feel like you need to fight for it? For others? Find it in your own heart first, then see what needs to be done to promote peace. Peace, Love, Joy and so on are not won because we refuse to accept their absence - they are won when we admit their presence. See, if we can't embrace the wholeness and completeness of where we are now, then we will always be grasping for it in the future. No amount of demonstrating, shouting, commiserating, or scheming will change it, even if we do it with the banner of love and gratitude in our hand. Peace is. Love is. Gratitude is.

A recent strategy for developing a sense of gratitude is keeping a gratitude journal. This is something I do myself, but it is within this deep contemplation about what I am truly grateful for that brought to light the set up. I noticed that as I was ticking off things I am "supposed" to be grateful for, how rote and contrived my list began to feel. I was really just paying lip service to them. I guess the theory is that the more we say it in our minds, the more we might believe it? I used to write every day how grateful I am for my family. Really, then why do complain about them, judge or criticize them (even if only in my head). A harsh reality for me was when I realized I was not really all that grateful for them. This is a tough message, I know. It sure was for me. But blame, guilt or shame is not the answer to this dilemma. The answer comes from acceptance, forgiveness, love and compassion, both to myself and to my family. The solutions and the corrections must come from the truth.

Living from a false premise "I am grateful for my family", when truly you have never really forgiven so and so for what they said, or really you wish so and so would change, and really you are so disappointed in so and so - is not only robbing yourself of authentic living, but you will never find a solution to those feelings by living "as if" they weren't true and feigning a sense of gratitude.

The resolutions to what you are "not" truly grateful for cannot come from an attitude of denial. Don't feel bad because you still resent Aunt Mary for what she said ten Thanksgivings ago, feel curious. Not for why Aunt Mary said it, but for why you still resent her for it. What wake-up call is this giving you? When you value Aunt Mary, when you appreciate her and show that appreciation in your actions and behaviors towards her - then you are grateful for her. Until then, work on the real root cause of the conflict in you. This does not mean you have to be fake or unkind to Aunt Mary, just that you know in your own heart and soul, you still have feelings of conflict about her that YOU need to address.

The notion that we cannot have more until we are grateful for what we have is true, but the part that was left out was, you must TRULY be grateful for them. That is again, the set up. The idea is that if we "act" grateful (and some of us even truly believe we are grateful by the English definition of the word), then more things will work out our way. Then we scratch our heads in wonder about why things are not working out for us, we are so grateful after all! Acting ungrateful by not recognizing or being flowery with our thanks and so on, will obviously make others not like us (we are told anyway). But really, acting ungrateful is just being honest. That does not make it admirable perhaps, but neither is fake gratitude.

Altruist behaviors that are done out of disingenuous gratitude require recognition. If you expect recognition, or are disappointed because you didn't get it, then your grateful actions are not genuine. These types of generous actions are done for your benefit, not the recipients. This is not to say stop doing them - they still may be helping someone else, but please consider your motives and your intentions when giving to others to express your gratitude. Don't worry, if you are truly grateful, you'll show it appropriately. It will be natural and effortless. You do not have to come up with elaborate or flamboyant action to demonstrate true gratitude.

My intention with this article is not to make you feel bad. On the contrary, my intention is to give you some relief and hope. You are not a "bad" person if you are not grateful - unconscious, misled, or metaphorically asleep, perhaps, but not bad or mean. This contemplation about gratitude is an opportunity to get yourself straight on what you really value and appreciate, and what you may want to work through internally to release so that you "can" truly be grateful.

I know that many of you have things and people in your life that you are truly grateful for. You may have noticed that when you just let gratitude unfold from genuine appreciation and value, that these things just continue to grow and take root in your life. Take some time to consider how you value yourself and others. Be an advocate to others by expressing gratitude for yourself and to God by how you conduct your life. If you are not there yet, don't fake it. Be patient and compassionate instead. Yes, gratitude is an essential element for living from the highest moral and spiritual standpoint, but so are honesty, authenticity and love. Gratitude, like other inherent qualities you always have available to you (love, joy, peace) are not fake it until you make it emotions. It takes awakening to see it in yourself, not enforcement. Expressing unconditional honesty and love IS gratitude. You should almost NEVER have to say it. It must be lived.

Here are a couple of ideas to think about while you are contemplating your great-fullness in your life:

  • What you value and appreciate expands. If you are feeling like things you should be grateful for are lacking (like family, job, relationships, finances), consider how you value them right now. Can you see that by devaluing them (considering them lacking) pushes these things away, not brings them closer to you?
  • Please do not fall into the ego trap of feigning gratitude for gain. True gratitude is lived and experienced, not forced with words and deeds. Be truly grateful first - the deeds will come.
  • Gratitude emerges from the source. Are you grateful for you? Do you value yourself by always honoring yourself with love and grace? Or, do you find something lacking? Begin within, only then can you be experience gratitude.
  • Take any small item in your life that you love and consider it deeply. Like a kitchen knife. How do you care for this item? Do you sharpen it? Do you always make sure it is clean so you can use it all the time? Do you always reach for it? Now contrast your value to your favorite item to your favorite person. How do you express your appreciation of this person?
  • Please consider deeply the difference between value and appreciating something or someone and obsessing and controlling them. This is an important idea I will leave you with because, even though it speaks to authentic gratitude, it is a topic worth exploring in-depth, perhaps in another article. I think logically you know that obsessing and controlling is not gratitude - so where do you stand on this?
